General
What does AI Live Translator do?
AI Live Translator translates browser tab audio into spoken translated audio and live captions. It is a listen-only Chrome extension for videos, courses, streams, webinars, and browser-based calls.
What sources does it work with?
It works with browser tabs that play audio, including YouTube, online courses, webinars, livestreams, Google Meet in Chrome, and Zoom Web in Chrome. Native desktop apps are not supported in the current version.
Is this a Chrome extension?
Yes. AI Live Translator is a Chrome extension plus a web account and billing portal. The extension starts and stops translation from the browser.
Does it work in native desktop apps?
No. The current version translates browser tab audio only. Native Zoom, native Meet wrappers, desktop media players, and system-wide audio are not supported.
Translation
Does it translate live?
Yes. Translation happens while the source audio plays, with translated audio and live captions appearing during the session.
How much delay should I expect?
Some delay is expected because audio must be captured, sent to the translation provider, translated, and played back. Delay can vary by network, source audio quality, language pair, and browser load.
Does it translate captions only or speech too?
It translates the audio you hear in the selected browser tab. The output is spoken translated audio plus live captions.
Does it translate my microphone or outgoing voice?
No. The current version is listen-only. It does not translate your outgoing microphone speech and does not inject translated audio into a meeting.
Which languages are supported?
The current target list is English, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, French, Japanese, Chinese, German, Korean, Hindi, Indonesian, Vietnamese, and Italian.
Billing
Is it free?
The extension is free to install and includes 10 free live translation minutes after account linking. Continued use requires a paid monthly plan.
What happens after 10 free minutes?
You can choose a monthly plan through Stripe Checkout. Active subscribers can add a 50-minute top-up through Stripe when they need more time.
Do monthly minutes roll over?
Monthly plan minutes reset on the plan cycle. Top-up minutes stay on the account, but are usable only while a paid monthly subscription is active.
What happens when I run out?
The extension stops allowing paid translation until more minutes are available. Choose a monthly plan first; active subscribers can add a 50-minute top-up.
How do I cancel or manage billing?
Use the Billing page to open the Stripe Billing Portal when it is available for your account.
Privacy and technical limits
Do you store my audio?
Raw audio is not stored by default. Audio from the selected browser tab is sent to the translation provider to generate translated audio and captions.
Do you store transcripts?
Transcript history and saved meeting artifacts are not available yet. Live captions are shown during the session; they are not saved as a transcript by default.
Is my browsing history collected?
No. The extension does not collect browser history or screenshots for the translation flow.
Why does the extension need tab audio capture?
Tab audio capture is required so the extension can translate the audio currently playing in the selected browser tab after you click Start.
Can I stop translation anytime?
Yes. Press Stop in the extension popup to end capture and minute billing.
